Escape To Portugal

14th-19th July 2024 [sold out - join waitlist]

Salema, The Algarve, Portugal.

This is my 3rd time going on Sophie’s retreats. Portugal combined everything that I loved from the Wales retreats - amazing yoga, delicious food and challenging workouts with hot workouts on the beach and chill time by the pool. Absolute heaven..”

After our first yoga class, we will enjoy supper and dessert by our legendary chef, Alissa.

We will come together again in the late afternoon for tea and sweet treats made by Alissa, followed by a yoga flow tailored to the groups abilities, stretching out after the days activities and learning some new poses. Yoga will be followed by a delicious supper, with a nightly theme of vegetarian and plant based cuisines, with flavours and dishes inspired from The Middle East to Italy.

Day six will be an early rise for coffee and breakfast before we sadly part ways and say good bye. Check-out of the villa is 10am.

NOURISH

At Sun & Salt Escapes, we are big on food! As yogi’s we try to adopt a diet that’s kind to the planet but also full of nourishment for the soul!

As a wellness retreat, all of our food is vegetarian or plant based and most importantly filled with wholesome and natural ingredients that will fill you with energy and goodness. Everything is made from scratch on site by our wonderful in-house chef, Alissa. Where possible we always aim to use locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.

A typical day look a little like this:

Brunch: Smoothie bowls or pancakes with homemade granola and coconut yogurt, sough dough or artisan toast, local preserves, fresh fruit, juices, protein smoothies, teas and coffee.

Afternoon tea: Freshly baked cake with fresh fruit, tea and iced tea.

Supper: Chermula aubergine bulgar wheat salad, topped with yogurt, beetroot dip, warm cumin flatbreads, cucumber and lambs lambslettuce salad followed by a dessert; sticky ginger cake and chocolate ginger truffles.

Not only does our food look amazing, but it tastes delicious too, you will not think about vegetarian food in the same way ever again!

  • What are the dates for this retreat?

    9th - 14th July 2023

  • Where is the nearest airport to the villa?

Faro is the closest airport that we suggest flying into, this is around a 90 minute transfer.

  • What time is arrival and check-out?

Arrival at the Villa is on Sunday from 4.30pm for welcome drinks, a light bite, a revitalising yoga class and dinner. Departure will be at 7am after breakfast on the last day.

  • Are flights and transfers included?

    Flights are not included.

We will provide one transfer to and from the airport which will be included in the cost of your booking. The times will be booked to suit the majority of guests arriving on the arrival date. We aim to greet you at the villa for 4.30pm, so when looking at booking flights, times ideally landing around 12pm-3pm will be accommodated for.

Check-out is 10am on day of departure. A transfer will be booked to suit the majority of the flight departure times that morning (usually around 7am). If your flight times do not suit the group transfer, then we can arrange a separate transfer at an extra cost.

Absolutely! Solo guests are always welcome, in fact most of our retreats are indeed made up of solo travellers, so you’re guaranteed to make some new friends during your stay

  • How fit do I need to be?

All fitness levels are welcome, although you may have more fun if you do have a basic level of aerobic fitness. Our instructor Sophie will make sure everyone has fun, no matter what their capabilities are.

  • What is the level of yoga?

The yoga will be based around the abilities of the group, with lots of modifications to suit a newbie and more advanced practitioners. You are welcome to speak to Sophie if there is something in your personal practice you would like to work on throughout the week.

  • Are the extra activities included?

The extra afternoon activities are not included in the cost of the retreat. These are additional options and allow everyone to pick what they would like to do with their spare time.

The extra activities can be arranged by us, once we know how many of the group would like to be booked on. We can hopefully get some good discounts for you as a group booking.

  • Do we have much down time?

Yes! This is your retreat and we know many of you would like to relax by the pool and read a book. This time will usually be after brunch and before afternoon tea around 4.30pm. You’ll have the option to go surfing, kayaking, coasteering, supping, stay at the house, go for a solo explore around Salema or head to the beach. The choice is yours.

Guest Reviews

“I joined the Pembrokeshire Retreat in 2021 and I couldn't recommend it enough. From arrival to departure, every minute of the day had been thoughtfully planned, bringing together the perfect balance of exercise, mindfulness, excitement and relaxation. Both Sophie and Alissa were the most attentive hosts you could wish for. You can really tell the retreat has been put together to showcase everything they love, live, breathe (and eat!).”

“Words cannot describe what an amazing time I had on the Retreat! From the most delicious food (if Alissa could cook for me for the rest of my life, I’d never touch meat again), the fabulous beach workouts, the sea dips and the beautiful coastal walks…Sophie made the week fun and relaxing and an amazing break from a stressful year. She’s reinvigorated my love of yoga and I can’t wait to book on to another one.”

“The retreat was the perfect getaway, at first I was a little nervous to spend my holiday with a group of strangers, but we all got on so well, everyone just clicked and we became our own little family! The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and felt like a home away from home. Alissa’s cooking was spectacular she opened up all our eyes to how flavourful vegetarian and plant based food can be! Sophie definitely put us through our paces, but we all felt great for it afterwards. Even though I’m basically a beginner, the evening yoga was a great session to perfect our form with Sophie’s support and teaching to help us feel more confident in our poses. When we did have our own free time we could explore the local area (which is stunning) or just chill in the garden and read a book. However the paddle boarding and coasteering with everyone are memories I’ll never forget!!”
